Rentec Ingeniørfirma AS is a Norwegian company that started in Bergen in 1994. Handling ‘Clean-Dry-Building’ (CDB) on construction sites has been our core business for a long time. In 2006, we finished the the work with the CDB-responsibility at the New Opera House in Oslo, followed by the same task at the New Concert Hall in Stavanger. In the recent years, we have taken a step up and been able to take full responsibility for the Rigging & Operation at some of Norway’s largest construction sites. This is the reason why we this summer changed our identity to: Rentec Construction Assistance. A name which in a good way defines the work we do. We are now working as the Rigging & Operation contractor for Ø.M. Fjeld on the expansion of the Non-Schengen expansion at Oslo Airport. We are also stand-by at the New University of Life Sciences at Campus Ås, which will be handed over throughout the spring of 2021. We take responsibility and will be there, taking care of the locations to the end.

Rentec Construction Assistance has a crew of 110 employees with different skills. Over time we have had the possibility to develop within two new sectors: Facade Installation and Complex Installation. We have been involved in dressing up the new signature buildings in Oslo: the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design, The New Munch Museum, and the Deichman Main Library. Concerning Complex Installation, we have put up over 3 km of laboratory furniture for the scientists at Campus Ås. And we have clothed the shrine wooden skeletons of Oslo Pavillions at Oslo Airport.

Reporting. We have spesific routines and a solid understanding of reporting, and this goes for all employees. We report everything that affects progress and deviations – and we are also careful to document deficiencies, irregularities and any damage. We use Dalux as a reporting system. It is available on all platforms so that both management and customer can gain insight into the process when they want. We use principles from LEAN and ISO, which ensures that process management and collaboration are transparent and solid.

HSE. At a busy construction site, we strive to have a good collaborative environment by understanding the various contractors’ challenges. We ensure this by having close contact with all supervisors and bases for the various companies. It is important to deal with this in a delicate way, because there are many different languages and cultures on the construction site.

Flow. The use of BIM (Building Information Modeling) provides better information flow and interaction throughout the construction process. When all participants use it as a daily aid, errors and shortcomings can be reduced, while efficiency and cooperation are improved. Our employees are well acquainted with the operation of BIM stations and BIM visualization on all platforms. Combined with our reporting system, Dalux, BIM gives us valuable knowledge about our own – and others – work situations.

Logistics. We work with construction management and the individual contractor to ensure that all materials arrive safely and is stored correctly. Good communication with recipients means that the goods are delivered on time, so that it does not take up unnecessary space on a cramped construction site.

Interaction. Everyone has to interact on a construction site. We have a good understanding of how the communication between the players must be, in order to be as efficient as possible. Our employees always seek to find flexible solutions. Good discernment is needed when situations of conflicting interests arise.

Personell. We chose our teams carefully, using dedicated team leaders and bases. Although the work will be very varied, our employees will adapt, and perform the immediate tasks at hand. We have extensive experience in providing necessary staff to large construction sites, whether it concerns rig workers, carpenters or certified machine operators. A large proportion of those who work at Rentec, are skilled workers from Latvia. Everyone has a permanent residence address in Norway. All have HSE cards and many have also authorized safety cards for working in the red zone. Everyone understands English and several also communicate in Norwegian. 35 percent of our workers are women, contributing to a complex working environment in a male-dominated profession.
